Aspects for the week beginning 25 December 2011
If you have woken early to see what aspects Santa has brought, you can go back for a lie in after popping the turkey in the oven. For the Xmas special (Jupiter turning direct) doesn’t occur until 22.08 Hrs in the U.K., well after the TV Xmas soaps. Haven’t managed to watch enough cookery run- up-to-Xmas programmes, but caught Jamie Oliver doing tacos for breakfast, Nigella glittery-eyed over port and stilton (heartburn-inducing viewing) and Raymond Blanc being advised on how to rough up the potatoes, prior to cooking them in a gallon of goose fat… They looked beautifully crisp, but give me a veggie Xmas any time! Back to Jupiter turning direct: Christmas day itself peps up in the evening, maybe after a staid beginning (everyone on their best behaviour?) and a slow warm-up. If you’re like the Royle family, you might start some hand jiving from your prone position on the couch. Every family has its tried and tested traditions… My sister and I have performed “Prince Charming” by Adam Ant plus “Making your Mind up!” by Bucks Fizz every Christmas/New Year since 1981 (that’s 30 years), adding Shakira’s “Whenever, Wherever” to the repertoire in 2002. I am thinking we should preserve it on video for the next generation (not for You Tube) but my sister disagrees preferring to leave it to memory. It was originally staged for the older generation, but the middle generation find it nothing but an embarrassment…Back to the Astrology, you know those awkward Xmas moments? Like granny finding out you don’t like Belgian chocolate after all, or your other half winding you up with the same Xmas jokes every year? These could occur at lunchtime on Boxing Day (26th) with Venus semi-sextle Pluto. To grin and bear it or not to grin and bear it, that is the question. It might help to know that it’s a minor, passing aspect. Fast forward to Thursday (29th) and the day dawns with a conjunction of the Sun and Pluto. This could make for a dodgy episode of Eastenders – drama may be brewing or have already brewed – have the chamomile tea ready. Maybe Phil had too much to drink the night before and vowed to avenge the cat who ate his Christmas pudding. His woman (is it Shirley? I have lost track of the characters) hides the cat and replaces it with a stuffed toy. In his bleary eyed state, Phil won’t
know the difference. Seriously though, try to minimize the damage or fall-out, as peace is the aim, at least until the New Year. It would be easy to let rip. This last aspect of the year and the consequences of how you handle it will set the tone for the next year, 2012, and not since 1984 and 2000 have we had such highly-charged numbers whose fame has preceded them. And you know what happened, and what didn’t happen, in those years. With the slow-cooking square between Uranus and Pluto many of us are feeling that we are entering into unchartered territory. The trick, or challenge, is to find a vein of excitement, which will lead to creative solutions. Happy New Year!
The week in bullet points:
- Christmas Day – get into the swing
- Boxing Day – minimize the agro
- Thursday – feel your feelings, and let go of what you don’t need

Happy Christmas y’all. We’re languishing here in balmy SoCal, suffering through ANOTHER sunny Christmas, temps in the high 70s. Even having grown up here, this doesn’t feel like Christmas weather.
I’m down with laryngitis but Bear’s having a great holiday. He got a new ceramic barbecue grill thingy (it’s shaped like an egg and made of really heavy ceramic and it’s supposed to be the cat’s meow) and is going to grill steaks this afternoon (and Brussels sprouts). And he’s got building stuff he needs to do, which involves power tools.
I’m hunkered down trying to get better before Tuesday, when I have a full calendar. Somehow, patients don’t appreciate their doctor getting sick. I’m bundled up and drinking lots of liquids and generally convalescing. Any home remedies y’all have will be gratefully accepted.
I’m SO looking forward to this year ending, seems like we have a pretty mellow final week. And next year will be a Water Dragon year, which is a doubly auspicious year. The calm perceptive nature of the Water Dragon will make it a good year that should also incorporate a few surprises. Unlike the Fire Dragon who tends to oversee calamities and huge earth-shattering changes, this dragon is willing to settle back, drink some Oolong and contemplate the choices around him. The New year is January 23rd 2012. Until then, hang in there!
Lana, thank you for a wonderful holiday blog – I really appreciate you taking the time away from life and putting this up. Double happiness to you & your family –
Dia

Post my Christmas lunch, we had a lovely time watching a nearly 6, and 2 year old opening presents, as well as plenty of food. I even braved the Sandringham crowds, many more than I had expected, to give the dogs their ‘usual’ Sunday walk. I am looking forward to the New Year, but have the rest of this to enjoy first. Thanks Lana for the insights, and hoping your festivities are rocking well, love Sarah.

Dear Dia
It is lovely to hear from you, and I wish you and yours a Happy Holiday Season.
I have never experienced a sweltering Christmas, but we have had it mild here.
Thanks for the intro to the Chinese Astrological Year. I know a little about the Tibetan tradition, but not so much about the Chinese.
I hope by now you are feeling better, but I tend to say “Sleep and Water” for everything. I should add “Breathing” but people usually remember to breathe to some extent.
Lots of Love
Lana

Dear Sarah
Thank you so much for your Christmas report.
Our Christmas was most harmonious, and we checked that our karma was in neutral.
The annual performance was filmed, just in the last section (Shakira/Argentine Tango), though we were not aware of it at the time, and we completely forgot the “Wonder of Woollies” section.
Still, it was just enough.
Thank you for all your hard work here throughout 2011, and Happy run up to New Year!
Love
Lana

Hello Lana and everyone. I am crawling my way out from under the Christmas exhaustion and realising Turkey is not the culprit of Yule collapse but probably fairer to say it’s the general stress I pick up from others which flattens me! Anyway, tomorrow is Thursday and having read this evening about Acid vs Alkaline bodies, I will be ready to once again embark on my path toward a healthier system through balance of Acid and Alkaline. …. letting go of what does not serve me…..
Lana you have been a huge support in 2011. Thank you so much for your Astronomical Wisdom and may the new year bring us a clearer understanding of what lies ahead for us all F<3

Dear Flick
Thank you; I am deeply touched to hear that I have been a support.
I too am hoping to let go of acids in 2011, so we should compare notes (at Gastropod – maybe we can have a subsection).
Here’s to a healthier year all round in every way,
Love
Lana
